AmeriCorps is a federally funded initiative, often referred to as the
"domestic Peace Corps", which offers full and part time opportunities for
participants, who, in turn, provide service to communities through established programs.
Though AmeriCorps is fuderally funded, it is locally driven and community based -
helping neighborhoods meet edcational and other human needs through direct service.
Participants gain lifelong skills and receive an eduction award that may be used for
future schooling, vocational training or student loan repayment. |
Members are certified as instructors in many Red Cross
Health and Safety courses: Babysitting, CPR/First Aid/AED HIV Aids to name a
few. You will teach classes at schools, churches, youth groups, public housing
and other orgainzations meeting needs of underserved populations throughout the
area. We have one full-time member working through the Adams County Red Cross.
