Introduction
to Disaster Services (ARC 3066)
Prerequisite to ALL disaster
courses. A video-based course which provides fundamental information about disasters, the
community response, and the role of Red Cross Disaster Services.
Training Objectives
- Describe what disasters are and how they affect people and their communities.
- Identify how the community - including the Red Cross, other voluntary organizations,
government, business, and labor-works together to prepare for, respond to, and recover
from disasters.
- Identifying Red Cross activities in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from
disasters.
- Describe the services the Red Cross provides to people affected by disaster.
- Identify how the Red Cross is organized to provide these services.
- Describe the roles people perform in Red Cross Disaster Services.
- Identify the skills and abilities they have that they would like to apply as a volunteer
with Disaster Services.
