AMERICAN RED
CROSS WHEN HELP CAN’T WAIT
- The American Red Cross
is the only humanitarian organization with a Congressional charter to
provide relief to victims of disasters and to help people prevent, prepare
for and respond to emergencies
- The Red Cross is
always there serving communities nationwide, twenty-four hours a day, seven
days a week.
- More than a million
Americans every year provide critical services to their neighbors as Red
Cross volunteers.
- Communities nationwide
rely on the Red Cross to be there with lifesaving help.
- Our responders, nearly
all volunteers, meet victims’ immediate needs by providing food, clothing,
shelter and emotional support.
- The Red Cross is among
the first to Arrive at a disaster scene and among the last to leave and is
there for families for as long as their needs exist.
- Hundreds of U.S.
service men and women turn to our Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) every
year for emergency communication with families, confidential counseling and
other social services.
- Lifesaving Red Cross
training prepares you to face everyday disasters such as choking, heart
attacks and drowning.
- Thanks to millions of
volunteer donors, our organization provides hospitals with half the nation’s
supply of blood and blood products for medical treatments and procedures.
