Armed Forces Emergency Services
Provided individualized social casework and case management to 60
families, which included emergency communication worldwide, verification
of death or illness to support emergency leave request, financial
assistance, benefits and government services. 9 Volunteer Caseworkers
logged 373 hours of service
Blood Services
Collected 6582 units of blood products at 216 blood drives hosted by the
Chapter, Businesses, and Community Groups. We collected 9.82% of our
population for the 2008-2009 fiscal year. 481 volunteers were recruited
to staff the blood drives. 161 Drives were held and 2695 platelet
products at 97.6% of the annual goal were made available for cancer
patients. 481 Volunteers logged 3030 hours of service assisting at blood
collections.
Disaster Services
Responded to 36 local disasters and 127 individuals were provided
assistance with food, clothing, medication, and deposit or first month's
rent in most cases. To prepare our Chapter for local disaster response
and preparedness, we trained 10,758 individuals from the area. We hosted
52 Community Disaster Education Events to educate the public on disaster
preparedness. 111 Disaster Volunteers logged over 3500.25 hours of
service.
Health & Safety Services
The Health & Safety Program provides education to industry, schools and
the community. A total of 12,263 adults and children were taught
life-saving skills in Red Cross certified courses in First Aid and CPR,
swimming lessons, lifeguard training, water safety, and HIV/Aids
prevention. Three paid staff and 266 authorized providers teach these
classes. Health & Safety Volunteers logged 4,174 hours of service. 23
Volunteers for the Adaptive Aquatics program provided a cumulative 6,353
individual sessions and logged 2,356 hours of service. The 7 Grey Ladies
logged 265 hours of service.
